As students prepared to begin a new academic year, Mount Saint Mary’s University welcomed Marymount Scholars, their families, university leaders and supporters to the Chalon Campus on August 6 for the 2026 Annual Marymount Scholars Celebration Dinner. Held just weeks before the start of the fall semester, the evening offered an opportunity to celebrate students’ accomplishments, hear their experiences and look ahead to the possibilities of the year to come.

Hosted at the University for the second consecutive year, the celebration brought together 146 guests, including 53 Marymount Scholars from the program’s five partner universities. The gathering reflected the community of support surrounding students throughout their college journeys and the partnerships working to expand access to higher education.

Mount Saint Mary’s President Ann McElaney-Johnson joined fellow university presidents John A. Nunes, California Lutheran University; Matthew J. Parlow, Chapman University; Christon Arthur, La Sierra University; and Thomas Poon, Loyola Marymount University at the celebration. Their presence reflected the collaborative network of institutions working alongside the Marymount Education Foundation to create educational opportunities and support students’ success.

“The evening was a beautiful reminder that behind every opportunity is a student with a story, a future full of possibility and a community committed to walking alongside them,” said Robyn Jones, executive director of the Marymount Education Foundation. “We are especially grateful to Mount Saint Mary’s for creating such a warm and meaningful setting for our scholars and their families.”

Established in 2022, the Marymount Education Foundation carries forward Marymount California University’s commitment to expanding educational access and supporting students. Through the Marymount Scholars Program, students receive scholarship support as well as mentorship, leadership development, professional opportunities and connections that extend beyond financial assistance.

The partnership between the Foundation and Mount Saint Mary’s has continued to grow. Earlier this year, the organizations formalized a $2.15 million partnership that will sustain and expand the Marymount Scholars Program at the Mount, growing the number of students supported through additional undergraduate cohorts beginning in fall 2026 and fall 2027.

Surrounded by their families, university leaders, Foundation representatives and supporters, scholars were reminded that their education is supported by a community invested in their success. As they prepared to return to campus and begin another academic year, the evening celebrated not only what they have accomplished, but also the possibilities that lie ahead.
